LUXURY VINYL LOOKOUT - PART 1
A very popular floor type in our world today is Luxury Vinyl flooring. It has grown in popularity due to it’s durability, thin profile, and variety of aesthetic visuals.
In the commercial interior design world, Luxury Vinyl floors are called LVT for Luxury Vinyl Tile, while if you are in the residential world of design the tile is called LVP which stands for Luxury Vinyl Plank. These can be interchangeable depending on who you are talking to, so keep that in mind!
What are some things you should consider when looking to purchase luxury vinyl flooring? Well, let’s chat!
Aesthetics: You can find a variety of visuals for LVP, most of which are wood-look. There is almost every wood-tone available, including some grey-tinted versions. There are also some on the market that mimic concrete, a linen look, or abstract striations. While the wood-look is most popular in residential, you may want to apply a different visual depending on what design style you are trying to achieve!
Plank Size: Each manufacturer has some options when it comes to plank size. There are some very wide plank sizes trending now, up to 9” width, but you can likely find a width size somewhere between 3”-9”. The length of your plank can also depend on which product line you select. Some lines even offer a variety of lengths within one colorway so that you can have a more realistic-looking wood floor with differing lengths instead of the same plank size repeated throughout your space.
Plank Variation: This is an important item to look at when you are selecting a new flooring, which is the plank variation, or visual movement your flooring will have when installed. Always look at installation photos before purchasing a flooring. Options with more variation and color contrast can read more rustic, while less variety and contrast will create a more modern install.
